Day 1: Making Made

Making Made Blog

Making Made

I love making stuff, but I never do it because I’m too lazy, too afraid of mistakes, and too busy doing things that I don’t find nearly as satisfying.

So this year, I am going to try to make something every single day. That thing might be a sketch, a painting, a craft project, a song, a new recipe, or even a performance. It just has to be something I created.

Naturally, I’m nervous. Will I have time to make something everyday? Will I have enough ideas to fill an entire year? Will I hate this project by the time it’s over…or halfway through? Who knows, but the only way to find out is to start.

The pictures above show what I made today, my first day of this crazy project. It was fun to do and the first time I’ve ever spent any length of time drawing and painting letters.Β  I’ll call it a good beginning.

  1. Jeanne, that’s a great idea! Looking forward to seeing the cool things you create! πŸ™‚ Happy New Year!

  2. Haha. Thanks so much, Nick! Also, cooking something from a new recipe does count, but you know I don’t bake much for fear of eating a whole batch of baked goods myself. Perhaps I could make an exception, though, and makes some cookies for you, Monica, and Brady πŸ™‚

  4. I love the idea of making something every day. I made a folded lotus flower a day for 2011 and it was a most wonderful experience. You are most of the way through the year now and you must be gratified by what you have accomplished. I hope you continue next year too!
