Hello! Sorry it’s been so long since my last post! In case you’re curious why it’s been so long, I’ve got two reasons.
First, I just returned from a two week trip in Argentina (it was amazing!) Below you’ll find some of the “how-many-sleeps-until-my-trip” graphics I made and used as Facebook wall cover photos before I left. The “sleeps” concept is something my boss’ son used to use when he was little and excited about a trip or the like. Always thought it was cute.
My second reason for not posting is a little less legit. I was finding it too difficult/stressful to actually do one big project a week, I guess because I was busy with my job, preparing for my South America trip, and this 21-day cooking challenge that I was doing.
Because I want to keep this blog going, I’m going to go back to posting small projects for now, and then hopefully have some bigger projects interspersed. This will definitely take the pressure off and somehow leave me a lot more room for creativity and inspiration.
Annnnyways, I’ll be posting more from my Argentina trip in the upcoming days. Can’t WAIT to go through all the pictures!
One of my sisters lives in Oregon, but she wasn’t able to come back to Chicago this year for the holidays because she recently started a new job. We’re all going to miss her a lot this Christmas, but we’ll get to see her in February once she finally has enough vacation time. That’s good.
Anyway, I made this Oregon piece for Maureen because I made a similar one of Illinois a while back, and at the time, Maureen said I should make her one of Oregon for Christmas–so I did!
She already opened her other present from me, which she got in the mail, but this is a Christmas surprise for her.
Maureen, I hope you like the this! I’ll be sending a framed version out to you in the mail tomorrow!
Last night, I played around with Photoshop and edited a picture I had posted a few days ago. It was pretty fun, although next time I do something like this, I’m thinking I’d like to do an actual tutorial…
I really like this piece by fashion illustrator René Gruau (which I discovered via a friend who posted it on Pinterest today), and also really like Pee-wee Herman. Naturally, I combined them! What do you think?
I originally sketched out this image in 2004, but it’s one of my absolute favorites. There’s so much emotion to it! The cactus! What is he to do? The balloon is coming right at him, and he loves it. But he will destroy it with his spines if it comes near!
Haha, anyways, tonight I used Photoshop to color in the original sketch. I like the results, but I feel like I still have lots to learn about using Photoshop for this type of thing.
