There’s a wildfire burning in Yosemite National Park, and on September 7th, I had the chance to do another time lapse of it. This was taken from the Ahwahnee Meadow in Yosemite Valley, from right near Sentinel Dome, and from Glacier Point. The fire is called the Meadow Fire.
I made another video at work. This one features video that both I and my colleague Theresa shot.
While we were on vacation in Argentina I took some video, and I was finally able to put something together with the footage! I set it to the song Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes because Jim always says it’s our song, and also because I had the song in my head so often while we were there. Somehow the beauty of the landscape reminded me of the lyrics.
So my 365 project is not quite over, but I decided the other day to make a video on it now, just for the heck of it. The video took me four days, which is kind of a lot compared to other projects, but it definitely shows the breadth of what I’ve done this year and, I must admit, makes me feel rather proud.
Ha ha! The video of my flip book is done and uploaded to You Tube. Thanks to Jim for assisting with production and making the adorable sound effects!
This evening, I went over to my parents’ house to celebrate my uncle’s 65th birthday. We had delicious corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, salad, and homemade Irish soda bread for dinner (thanks Mom!) and afterwards, with a bit of help, I made a fire in the backyard in my parents’ chiminea. We sat around the fire all evening and even sang a few songs. It was lovely.
To capture the feeling of the night, I made a simple video of our fire and set it to the song “The Blizzard’s Never Seen the Desert Sands” by the Tallest Man on Earth.
This evening, I made a tiny short film about the snow since there is a snowstorm going on in Chicago right now. Note: I always pretend that I don’t like the snow because it’s dirty and cold, but I actually think it’s pretty.
